Jan Dismas Zelenka (Louňovice, October 16 1679–Dresden, December 22 1745) (or December 23) was the Bohemian Baroque composer active in Dresden. He is also referred to as Johann Dismas Zelenka. He was extremely regarded by Johann Sebastian Bach, & wrote the total of orchestral & vocal pieces which are then typically virtuosic and demanding. Particularly, his writing for bass instruments is far thomas more demanding than that of more composers of his era. Virtually all of his compositions come religious. He was an helper to Johann David Heinichen, and unsuccessfully tried to benefit a post of Kapellmeister after Heinichen's death around 1729. A post attend Johann Adolf Hasse.
